Construction

MOHICAN was rebuilt (1992 to 1998) by Circolo Nautico Italiano, though she remains near 95 percent original. She’s double planked mahogany over cedar and is fastened throughout with bronze screws. Her decks and interior are varnished.


Accomodations

Seven single berths located in three staterooms. The vessel is outfitted with three heads which each have their own pressure water system shower. The galley has two refrigerators, a double sink and a six burner stove. Carpeted cabin sole and cabin heater make for a very cozy and toasty interior.

In the early 20th century, many Wall Street executives and wealthy businessmen used the popular Consolidated to make the commute to from Long Island and points north to the island of Manhattan.
The Consolidated yard of City Island, New York developed a reputation for developing some of the finest commuters on the market – known for their elegant, beautiful, and finely crafted vessels such as MOHICAN. Her present owner, an experienced classic-yacht owner who has a keen eye and passion for original detail, spent six years restoring her. He spent considerable time and effort researching and documenting the original specifications for Consolidated generally and MOHICAN specifically to the end result of a finely restored commuter.


Engine Details

(1996) twin Aifo Fiat 400 horse power water-cooled diesel engines in like-new condition. Bronze propellers on stainless-steel shafts. The engine is reported to be in like-new condition. 700 nautical mile range; fuel consumption is approximately 21 gallons per hour at 24 knots.
